Writer splits and royalty shares

Record each writer's share of the songwriting — their royalty split — with shares that add up to 100%.

A split is each writer's share of a song's songwriting — the percentage that decides their royalty share of the song. Songbox stores splits with the track, so your songwriting credits and royalty shares travel with your music.

Set your splits

  1. From the main menu, open Catalog, click the track, and go to its writers or copyright section.
  2. Add each writer from your roster.
  3. Enter each writer's percentage. The shares for a song should add up to 100%.

Your changes save as you go. Adjust one percentage and the others update to help you reach a clean 100% total.

Why it matters

Accurate splits make crediting, registration and licensing much smoother down the line — everyone can see who contributed and what share of the royalties they're due.

Good to know

Songbox records your splits, publishers and copyright details so they're stored alongside your music. It doesn't collect or pay out royalties itself — those are handled by your PRO, publisher or distributor, using the share information you keep here.
