Organise your tracks into folders

Folders are a filing cabinet for your tracks. Each track lives in one folder, its home, which keeps your main Tracks list tidy as your catalogue grows.

When you file a track into a folder, it moves out of your main Tracks list and lives inside that folder instead. To see it again, open the folder from the sidebar.

Folders are for organising, playlists are for sharing

Filing a track into a folder is only about keeping yourself organised. It never changes what you share. A track can still be in as many playlists as you like, and moving it between folders has no effect on any playlist it belongs to.

Where to find your folders

Your folders sit in the left sidebar, tucked under the Tracks link, whenever you are on the Tracks page. Each folder shows how many tracks are filed inside it.

Create a folder

Under Tracks in the sidebar, click + New folder, give it a name, and it is ready to use.

File a track into a folder

There are three ways, whichever suits you:

• Drag and drop: pick up a track by its handle and drop it onto a folder in the sidebar.
• From the track's menu: open a track's menu and choose Move to folder.
• In bulk: tick several tracks, then use Move to folder to file them all at once.

Open a folder

Click a folder in the sidebar to see just the tracks filed inside it.

Move a track out of a folder

To send a track back to your main Tracks list, drag it onto Tracks in the sidebar, or use Move to folder and choose to unfile it.

Rename or delete a folder

Open a folder and use the actions at the top to rename or delete it. Deleting a folder never deletes the tracks inside it. They simply return to your main Tracks list.

Find a filed track

Search always looks across your whole catalogue, so a track still turns up in search whether it is filed in a folder or not.

Make a playlist from a folder

A folder is a handy starting point for a Playlist. Open the folder and create a Playlist straight from it. See Creating & Customising Playlists.
